Potato Market Update
Russet potato demand remains very steady. Supplies of storage crop and new crop russet potatoes are available. All shipping areas are looking for additional volume to pack. Pricing is slipping as more and more volume becomes available.
Growers across the country are starting to ship new crop of red potatoes. The new crop is looking fantastic!
Demand for yellow potatoes is steady. Yellow potatoes are available throughout many shipping areas, and the market is adjusting.
Growers in Wisconsin have started their white potato crop but in a limited way. Growers in the Southeast continue to ship new crop of white potatoes, with much of that volume remaining close to that shipping region.
Fingerling potatoes are available from growers in California and New Mexico. There is still a shortage of fingerling potato supplies throughout the country.
Onion Market Update
Onions are available in excellent supplies out of New Mexico and California, with the Columbia Basin getting started in a small way. Markets are steady, with good demand overall.
Shippers will soon be transitioning from New Mexico / California to Washington and Oregon. New crops in the Pacific Northwest are showing excellent quality and good sizing. Storage crop harvest will start at the end of this month, and growers report ideal growing conditions this season.
