Potato Market Update
All major russet potato shipping areas are running and looking for more business. All growing areas experienced above-average yield this past fall, so everyone’s storage is quite full. Pricing is under pressure in all areas as growers look to move more potatoes. The sizing is also larger than usual.
Quality yellow potatoes are shipping from all areas. Pricing remains stable.
Demand remains very stable for white potatoes. Most of the white potato supply remains near the shipping point, mainly in the Northeast. Pricing is stable.
Fingerling potato supply sits comfortably in all areas, but it is not long. Pricing is slightly above average.
Onion Market Update
Most onion harvest is now complete in Idaho and Eastern Oregon/ Washington. Demand has been steady in all colors and sizes, with medium-sized onions being the tightest in the marketplace currently.
The main shipping regions currently are in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. All three colors are now available in good supplies. Demand is expected to pick up as we head into the holiday season.
