Potato Market Update

Potato Market Update 11.29.23

Russet potato movement has slowed following the Thanksgiving holiday. All shippers have their eyes on Idaho to see what will happen to pricing as demand weakens. No grower in the country states a need to slow down on shipping; in fact, all shippers hope to increase movement. Unfortunately, growers customarily done by the first of the year say they’ll have potatoes into February. This trend may continue with all shippers.

Our Florida growing partners have completed planting their winter crops. These new crop potatoes are expected to hit the market in mid-February.

All areas continue to ship yellow potatoes at a good pace. Quality remains good. We see good movement in a light-skinned yellow potato variety with many national promotions. Pricing remains very steady with slight downward pressure.

Demand and supplies of white potatoes remain steady in all shipping regions, with most of the demand remaining in the Southeast and Northeast. Pricing remains very stable.

Fingerling potatoes are available in both Colorado and Idaho. Pricing is steady with very few changes.
