Potato Market Update
Russet potato demand appears steady. Pricing continues to be under pressure in Idaho with the rest of the country holding steady. Other states are expecting their remaining supplies will match the demand before the new crop arrives in late July. Quality remains consistently above average in all shipping areas.

The demand for yellow potatoes continues to outpace that of previous years. Storage crop supplies are winding down in Colorado, Idaho and North Dakota. New crop yellow potatoes are starting to be available from growers in Florida. Pricing on both storage and new crop yellow potatoes continue to inch upward as availability decreases.
The white potato market remains steady. Storage crop supplies remain very limited throughout the Northeast and new crop is starting to be available but on a very limited basis. The majority of the new crop of white potatoes remains in the southeast.
Storage crop fingerling potato supplies are available from growers in Colorado and Idaho with very adequate supplies to entice some possible promotions.
Onion Market Update
Currently demand in the onion market is strong and pricing is starting to rise. Medium-size yellow onions are in the highest demand, due to the USDA Farmers to Families food box program, retail business and limited supplies across the country.
Growers in the Pacific Northwest are still shipping storage crop yellow and red onions, with the white onion storage supply nearing completion. New crop onions from Texas will be available in a few weeks; however, due to the recent record cold temperatures, there is uncertainly with the yields and quality.
New crop onions from Mexico are now available and in good supply. Look for new crop California to start up the beginning of May.
