Prepare for the holidays

Potato Market Update

The demand for russet potatoes continues to be strong. The market is experiencing a slight calm before the Thanksgiving push. Pricing remains very steady across the board.

Growers in the Midwest are expected to have ample supplies of red potatoes through February. Growers in Florida have finished planting their fall crop and expect fresh, red potatoes in February.

Compared to last year, inventories of yellow potatoes are down across the nation. Movement has continued to outpace red potatoes, causing shortages leading to increased pricing.

Not much change throughout the white potato market. Supplies and pricing remain very steady.

Supplies of fingerling potatoes remain very strong in all colors. Pricing has become very lucrative to promote.

Onion Market Update

Overall onion market pricing and demand remain very steady. We expect strong demand throughout October and November due to Thanksgiving and Round 4 of the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program.

Whites, reds, and yellows are all in good supply in the Columbia Basin and Idaho. Currently, freight rates are higher than normal across the country, and we anticipate a tight truck market over the next couple of months.

We are honored and privileged to be a part of this very distinguished group.”
